Quality of the ODYSSEA products is continuously monitored and periodic statistics are computed and updated every day, in particular comparisons to various reference. This section provides entries to the various plots produced for this monitoring and validation activity.
Comparisons with in situ buoys
In situ drifting buoys constitute a completely independant reference to which ODYSSEA products can be compared to, since they are not used in the data merging (unlike many other analyses), despite they don't correspond exactly to the same sensing depth as the satellite data. Only nighttime measurements are selected in the comparison processed, and averaged onto the same grid as the ODYSSEA products.
- L4 Analysis : global/10km * regional (mediterranean, north western shelves, south africa, brazil, great barrier reef)/2km
- L3 Multi-Sensor (supercollated) : global/10km * global/25km (microwave sensors only) * global/10km (high resolution sensors only) * global/10km (mid-resolution sensors only)
- L3 mono sensors : AATSR * AMSRE * AVHRR18 GAC * AVHRR19 GAC * AVHRR19 LAC * GOES11 * METOP-A * MODIS-A * NAR19 * MSG/SEVIRI * TMI
Comparisons with AATSR
AATSR is arguably one of the most accurate and stable sensors and so considered as a good reference for comparison, despite it is not an independent source (AATSR is used in ODYSSEA merging process) and it does not correspond exactly to the same sensing depth (skin sea surface temperature) as the ODYSSEA products (foundation sea surface temperature) and there is a significant shift between these two depths. Only nighttime measurements are selected in the comparison processed, and averaged onto the same grid as the ODYSSEA products.

Comparisons with climatology
The climatology used for comparison is the Ifremer/MyOcean daily climatology derived from the NODC/Casey climatology.
